...let's make seasonal animations!

Hello! I can’t wait for the next Animation 🥧MINCE 🥧Pie, which will be Christmassy or season-themed - we’ll be getting in the festive spirit and making an animated card/message to send out to friends and family! ZOOM LINK IS AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS POST (plus I’ll send it out again prior to the session).

I’ve had such a lot of fun making these test animations! (and eating several mince pies to make my magic pie loop…) For this session you could use whatever technique you like, go for whatever suits your theme and mood. Here are my warm ups…

🌟First up is a cut out animation, inspired by the ‘Timing’ session we did back in May using really simple shapes and a bit of a filter. I deleted ‘draggy’ frames here and there to give things more speed and energy.

🌟My second animation is drawn on paper using my trusty wooden ruler pegbar and working on a lightbox, just like we did in the recent ‘Taking a Line For a Walk’ session - I didn’t really have a plan for this one and just started moving a line around, which then decided to turn into a word! I used highlighters and a black thin pen, and played around with the negative filter. If you want to send out a message of LIGHT, LOVE or DRINK AND BE MERRY… this could be the technique for you!

🌟My third animation involves walking around with a stencil and taking photos, a new technique for me that I’ve been wanting to try for ages. Here’s a bts video showing how I made it. I really enjoyed this! Initially I planned it to be a christmas jumpers, but it has come out extremely NOT christmassy! (But it IS only mid Nov as I write this so that’s OK)

🌟The fourth one is using the same jumper stencil from above, but this time DEFINITELY Christmassy!

There are SOOOO many things you could do… on the live zoom I’m planning to do pixilation, where you animate real stuff and/or people.
