“Hello it’s June!” was how my Mum used to cheerily answer the phone. (Her name was June, so it wasn’t just a month thing!) I can still hear her bright, inviting voice in my mind, so it’s nice to have her part of this post…
June has been super busy for me, how has it been for you?
One of the biggest things for me was exhibiting with Isle of Riso - I am one of 6 invited artists to show work using or inspired by Risograph printmaking. I chose to include my “Today is Tuesday” zines from last summer, monoprint portraits (using riso masters to print with) and 3 new flipbooks “ROOT”, “LEAF” and “FLOWER”.
It was such a gorgeous opening - lovely people, delicious N Uist gin and choc-dipped strawbs, great music, and of course fabulous artwork!

It’s on till 17th August if you are in the area this summer🌞
Here are my 3 flipbooks in full, in case you can’t make it to flip them in person!
What else happened this month?
I went drawing with Black Isle Sketchers - the drawing group I set up earlier this year. We went to a very busy Rosemarkie Beach, the sun shone, then we drank coffee. Lovely afternoon. I took loads of materials and ended up using two pencils and a rubber!! It was summer soltice, so there were people swimming, doing yoga and visiting the mobile sauna in amongst the usual dogs, picnics, sandcastling…

Animation Pie was themed around TOYS and PLAYIME this month - it was such a fun session and is recorded if you missed it. More info here.
Here is one of my animations I made for the session:
What did you get up to this month? I hope you had a happy, creative June too! See you next month! x
I love that animation!
I love this little animation you made here, so simple and so effective. Did you plan it all out before starting or just dive in and see where it led you?
